Tilia is an MS-DOS program designed to record and display stratigraphic data, in conjunction with TGView
(the Windows-based successor to Tilia-Graph). Tilia and TGView are designed for pollen data, but can be used
for a wide variety of stratigraphic, geologic, and ecological data.
With Tilia you enter your sample and variable information and then fill in the spreadsheet with your data. Tilia includes forms for recording metadata such as site information (site name, latitude, longitude, etc.), radiocarbon dates, publications, and chronologies. You can calculate sample ages based on the chronology information you entered in the forms.
TGView plots pollen or other stratigraphic data. You have a high degree of control over the diagram format: graphs may be plotted as silhouette curves, hisograms, presence/absence, or raw numbers. Curves can be filled with a variety of patterns. Depth bars and exaggerated curves can also be plotted. You can create cumulative or overlaid graphs. You can scale both horizontal and vertical axes; define major, minor, and labeled tic marks; and enter axis labels. You can optionally plot by age or by depth. Graph names can be plotted at any angle from 0 to 90 degrees, in one of several fonts.

Registering and Purchasing TGView
The upgrade to TGView (the current version is 2.0.2) is free for anyone who has previously purchased the Tilia Software Package. However, it must be registered. The program will not run until a valid Owner Name and Product Key have been entered in the registration dialog box, which will appear the first time you run the program. The encrypted Product Key is unique for each Owner.
To acquire a Product Key, email Eric Grimm with the original license number purchased for the Tilia Software Package and the name of the person to which it should be registered. You will then be sent by email a valid Product Key. If you don't know the original license number, please provide the name of the person who made the purchase. A record has been kept of all licenses purchased.
If you need to purchase TGView, go to the download link provided below and click on Tilia_Order_Form.pdf. Complete information on different ordering options is explained on the order form. You can type your order information directly into the fields with Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader and then print the completed form, which can be faxed (and signed for credit card orders).
To encourage downloading the program and credit card payment, prices are higher for CD-ROM mail delivery, invoice orders, and purchase orders, all of which require more cost and handling time. Downloading and credit card payment are faster and more convenient. A Product Key will be emailed as soon as the credit card is processed.

HTML Help
HTML Help should already be installed on all machines with Windows 98 or greater. If you have a Windows 95 or 98 machine without HTML Help, you can download the HTML Help Installation and Update Package (Hhupd.exe). Do not run this file on other versions of Windows.
HTML Help requires Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0 or greater. You may want to download the most recent version of Internet Explorer 6. If you haven't done so recently, it is a good idea to click the Windows Update link on this page and Check for Updates.
If you have a Windows 95 machine or one that will not support Internet Explorer 6, you can upgrade to Internet Explorer 5.
